Plastered!

Woohoo! Eaves are done at the front of the house.

And the plaster was almost completely done in only one day! Below is a shot of the dining area.

Kids' Retreat area.

Can't wait to get inside and have a proper look! We are going to be so upset when we get locked out :-(

The building fairy

Thank goodness for Jacinta the building fairy! She went down to our place in the scary, dark, windy night to cover up our plaster so it wouldn't get soaked by the rain. What a nice neighbour :-)

Wow look at us now!

Amazing progress in one day!!
We now have:
- Bricks finished
- Bricks cleaned
- Site cleaned of debris
- Insulation installed
- Walls straightened

Only took two quick pics as I was pooped from carting bricks. Stacked some at the house and took a full trailer load off site to Mum and Dads'. Can't believe how quickly they got all this done!

Bricking 99% complete

Alfresco pillars are completed. Lots of mess on the alfresco floor. Itching to go out on the weekend and give it a good sweep!

Rear of the house is now also complete, as is the blind side (minor bedrooms side). When I arrived the brickies were still there and working away. They only have the window sills on 3 sides of the house to go and say they will be here for another two days.

Well it was a little bit muddy out at the house today! I was slipping and sliding all over the place in my trusty thongs. That unwanted advertising that we found in the garage came in handy- I ripped it off the wall and put it in the car with the dirty footwear on it.

Our two brickies finished the entire eastern wall of the house today, except for the tiny bit above the ensuite windows (below). The storm interrupted them.

And they also finished the front of the house, so from the road the house looks almost complete!

Our beautiful entry way with window, all finished!

Bricking the facade

Most exciting progress we've had in months! The front of the house is over half way bricked so we can now pretty clearly see our facade. The bricks jut out a little bit on the portico pillar and match on the other side of the third window along (far right of pic above- you can't really see in this photo). Apparently its a 'course corbelled' in building terms. We love it!

Close up of the garage window (on left) which until now had been lying out in the dirt and then in the kids' retreat, waiting for the brickie to come along and put him in place.
Was really hard to take a photo of the facade- stupid temporary fencing!

At last! Bricking continues

The sunlight has made this photo look a bit cloudy, but here is the alfresco wall. A good place to be bricking on such a hot day (out of the sun).

Almost half the alfresco pillars have been done. Not too happy about our outdoor powerpoint being located halfway up the wall next to the sliding door.... Will see what we can do about this.

Back of the garage is almost completely finished.

A strategically placed bit of tarp across the front of the block. Might be our 'sediment barrier'??? Useless nontheless.
