Probs with the frame

Trying to organise a site meeting as soon as possible. Several issues with our frame still and we are not happy to pay the frame invoice while we still have a defective product.
* The studs supporting the corner of the alfresco are single- they should be double. Single will not support the load.
* The kitchen bulkhead frame has only been secured at each end, not nailed up in the middle- it sags into a u shape.
* No wall straightening has been done-plaster will be all wavy if it goes up.
* Doorway to master still not adjusted.

Hopefully we can discuss the problems asap and have them fixed. Will not be a happy possum if they continue with the plaster before fixing the frame!

    Thanks!

  2. I would definitely have somebody walk through it for you. Parents? Anybody who has a bit of an idea. My brother is building with H and had the same issues we have, and then some more. It's not the builder, you just have to be on their case otherwise they will cover it up and you won't know until it's too late. To check the straightness of the frame, get someone to get a 2m piece of straight steel and put it horizontally against the frame. It should sit flush, if it doesn't- you need them to pack it out or shave it down so it is. You could pay an inspector to check it for you? I would if I was going to be away. Let us know how it goes! :-)

  3. Thanks for valuable info. Did they fix your probs yet?
Took my concerns with CSA today, and arranged SS meeting before I leave. She said they do independent inspection at each stage and they are not from Henley and assured all marketing tactics that Henley is a big builder blah blah blah..
Can not trust these guys after reading on blogs. Thinking of asking friends to keep an eye at least once a week, will try to organise inspector at least after frame stage, hopefully will be worth it.

    Regards,
    Ismail.

  4. Hey Ismail,
No probs fixed yet but we've got a meeting organised for Mon to discuss them. Once we have asked for these things to be fixed I'm sure they will be. Getting your frame inspected sounds like a good idea. If you want some more info try this booklet-www.buildingcommission.com.au/resources/.../S+T_GUIDE_07.pdf It tells you what is and isn't acceptable with most home building issues/defects.
    Best of luck!
