TV and home theatre

Went shopping with the family last night. Ted Chwasta Good Guys were having another one of their VIP sales and they always look after us. We bought a 32 inch Samsung LED TV for the bedroom, to sit on top of the chest of drawers. Got a very good price for it as it was the last one. Also bought a Blu Ray home theatre system for the living area. My technical specifications were- 'they have to go on the wall. None of those stick speakers.' They had just what we needed- a Sony system with four speakers to be mounted on the walls in each corner. Dad bought the same system, Ryan bought a Samsung home theatre (that we'll probably be able to hear from our house!) Lesley bought a kettle and a cordless phone and Mum got herself a huge screen Toshiba laptop. We all said that going to Ted's is better than xmas, because we never get this much stuff from Santa!

Shoe rack and retaining walls

Henry warily checks out the new shoe rack. Chopped up the old bookshelf and repositioned the shelves. Perfect! Wasn't sure where this bookshelf would go in the new place but now it will be put to good use in the garage by the door, housing all of our most frequently worn shoes.
Here's a before pic: (looks the same size in the end but I assure you it's 30cm shorter!)

Our retaining walls have been done at the house. About freakin time. The fence has sagged and will need fixing. Grrrr. They told us it was so vital and would be one of the first things done.

And a view from the front....

And they haven't done the wall as long as is indicated on the site plan. Grrr and grr.

Check measure Thursday, furniture galore

Booked in our final check measure for the plantation shutters in the ensuite. They told us to wait until all the plaster and architraves were done because even a couple of millimetres adjustment can throw them out. The Spotlight person is booked to come out 9am Thursday. have emailed our admin to ask if we can get access to the house. Really hoping we're not locked out on the day or I'll be cranky!

On the furniture front, thought I'd go and pay the final deposit on our couch tomorrow and pick out the cushions they have offered to make us for free. Not sure about colours, I suppose we'll see what they've got. Also went to an upholsterer this morning to ask how much it would be to recover the seats of our dining setting in a grey fabric (royal blue will not suit the new house!) $65 per chair. With 8 chairs to do I lifted my jaw back off the floor and ordered the fabric so we can do it ourselves. Will make sure I post some befores and afters!

Caesarstone benchtops

Here's a nice close shot of our Cracked Pepper benchtop in the ensuite. Finally found the house unlocked today. Yippee!

Main bathroom has the same

And the kitchen's the same too. We're pretty exciting aren't we? This pic is of the back wall of the kitchen.

And here's the big island bench! Love it. I think if I had my time again I would have got the kickboards in the same Laminex as the cupboards. They are a silvery colour. It doesn't really bother me but I don't like it as much as I think I would if it was all Lustrous Elm to the floor. See last post pics, I think you can see the kickboard in those...

A bit of good news

Doors to the Master and Study are now on.

So are both the front doors. That's not our real door handle by the way!

Laundry is all in. I love it. Looks very crisp. Chris is a little disappointed that it's so white and thinks the grey cabinets would have been a better contrast. I like it so white because it's quite a small room. The tile splashback will be grey, so it won't be totally white.

Ensuite vanity with backing sheet for the mirror. We chose to have tiles between the benchtop and the mirror.

Kitchen, now that the kids' retreat doors have been hung. Very happy with them :-)
Our kitchen benchtop looks a bit strange because they've done it in the same Laminex as the cupboards. There will be Caesarstone put on top, but we thought they would just put a piece of chipboard in place until that arrives. We really like that they've put the grey Lustrous Elm on the underside of the overhead cabinets. Look nice when you're standing there pretending to cook!

And one of our beautiful front doors was on too! yay!

The cabinets have arrived!

Look at our beyootiful kitchen cabinets in Lustrous Elm. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. And really pleased with the the little lip handles we chose too.

Ensuite cabinets

Laundry cabinetry (upside down) is in 'Alaskan.' Looks almost pure white, but up close has a faint grey woodgrain print on it. Very much in love with our choices :-)

Doors

Our colorbond trimming stuff has been put on... It's been put on a bit slap dash, so will probably have to be redone. It's also dented. We will probably replace it with lengths of cedar in the not too distant future anyway.

Skirting has been delivered.

Here's the best pic we could get of our timber front doors.

All the doors in the hallway, stacked up ready to go.

Our Rockport double doors to go on the Master Bedroom and Study. Love them!

Cornices

Well no cabinets have been delivered, but all the cornices are pretty much done. Looking pretty good we think!
